MGT 303 Innovation & Society - Innovation and technology are primary drivers of modern economies and are topics that all students should be familiar with. MGT 303 provides a framework for understanding processes that drive innovation and helps bridge gaps between theory and practice and gaps that occur between technology and the liberal arts. The course will help students gain an understanding of the history of major innovations and their impacts on society including business, the visual arts, music, communication and even political systems. Both intended and unintended consequences will be examined. Students will explore factors that led to major innovations and the lessons that can be drawn from these cases. Organizational structures that enhance and reward innovation will be reviewed, including the critical role that diversity plays in innovation and the importance of teams vs. the lone inventor myth. Historical diversity models will be reviewed including the Islamic Golden Age, th
