MCM 329 MUSIC INDUSTRYThis course examines the history, structure, and practicesof the music industry. Business aspects of artists? contracts,royalties, copyrights, and research methods are analyzed.Recording and production, artist management andconcert management provide additional areas of study.Music programming in broadcast media of radio andtelevision as well as musical scores for film are discussed.New technology in the music industry such as digitalrecording and editing, surround sound formats, MusicalInstrument Digital Interface (MIDI), digital audio tape(DAT), and on-line audio are also investigated.
