Description

PSY 317 Queer Identities in the Psychological Context - This course will explore the LGBTQIA2+ initialism, historical context of the community, societal
stigma and schema, psychological implications, and how to support individuals who identify as a part of the Queer Community. Looking at the individual through an intersectional lens, this course will identify and expand upon common misconceptions, varying cultural perspectives and understandings, and the ways in which individuals have been expected to conform to heteronormative expectations and had to navigate western culture as a member of the Queer Community. Prerequisites: PSY 101 and ENG “C-” or better.
