Description
MCM 201 Video Game Studies - This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of video game theory and ludology (the study of gaming). Throughout the semester the class will critically analyze examples of both popular and independently produced video games through lenses that
include but are not limited to disability studies and narrative theory. Additionally, students will design an original, text-based game to be played by members of the class. Note: this is a writing-intensive course that will focus more on game studies, theory, and aesthetics rather than design. Students are not required to have any programming experience prior to enrollment. Prerequisite: ENG 101 "C-" or better
