Description

LIT 320 Graphic Novels and Manga - This upper-division course introduces students to great works of sequential art that emphasize important social themes such as diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion. It examines the history of graphic literature and the emergence of two new art forms, graphic novels and manga, in the twentieth century. In addition to appreciating the formal qualities of sequential art, students read works by written and illustrated by women, writers of color, and members of the LBGTQ community, and through the readings they examine serious issues pertaining to war, racism, and gender. Prerequisite: ENG 102 "C-" or better
