Description

HUM 330 Human Rights in a Global Perspective: Explores social movements by placing students in the center of contemporary global human rights issues. First, students will learn to locate human rights violations in relation to macro/systemic examples of social (in)justice. Next, students will pay close attention to the role of human rights education as a response to human rights violations on meso and micro levels. Finally, this course is dedicated to promoting the human rights principles set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The aim is to facilitate the teaching of human rights in both formal and informal settings by modeling best practices vis-àvis interactive curriculum and community activism. Prerequisites: ENG 102 “C-“ or better, SSC 150 or HUM 307. Prereqs: SSC 150 and HUM 307 waived.
