FIN 432 RISK MANAGEMENT & INSURANCE Risk Management and Insurance is a finance elective. This course purports to introduce you to the fundamentals of risk and methods by which risks in the commercial, personal and public domain can be managed and insured. Insurance is the primary mechanism by which risk is managed within society. The primary goals of this course are: (1) to introduce you to the structure and function of the insurance industry in the United States; (2) to understand the workings of various segments of the insurance industry (3) to enable you to understand the contractual aspects of insurance policies and analyze how claims arise and are effectively managed. The kinds of insurance covered in the course will include life, health, personal property, commercial and social insurance.
